Hello.

Welcome to my blog. I write short stories, free verse poetry and give advice on writing. Have a nice read.

The General Holsterman Lectures [Ideological Subversion and Generational Waves]

The General walked the stage and scanned the students. Every Cadet was awake and listening. Pencils were up and ready. The General began.

“There are natural rhythms in life, Cadets, crests and valleys that occur due to cultural and biological factors. One of these crests occurs during the transition from childhood to adulthood. It is called, The Generational Wave. It occurs roughly every twenty years”

The General clicked the projector remote. Words appeared on the screen. The students began writing.

A Generational Wave is the culmination of Thought for specific demographic section of a population as it transitions into adulthood. It is not an age at which an individual reaches. Nor is it a point at which an individual is considered to be an adult by society. Some individuals inside a Generational Wave will be in their mid to late Twenties. Some will be the ages you cadets are now. The edges of Generational Waves do not have definite boundaries. Rather, the Wave has a fading, with some individuals making up a part of the Wave and other individuals identifying with previous or later Waves.

In essence, the Generational Wave is the loose collection of values, ideologies, viewpoints and perspectives that the specific demographic holds as they move into adulthood. This collection can be observed in the music that the Wave identifies as its own. It can be seen in the political philosophies the Wave adopts through its progression. It can be seen in the clothing fashions it wears, in the popular media it consumes, in the religious ideologies it worships, and most importantly, in the various social moralities it invents, or re-invents.”

The General cleared his throat.

“Generational Waves possess certain intrinsic characteristics that expand beyond the wave’s edges and are present in every Wave. The following is one of these characteristics.”

The General clicked the projector remote. On the screen, an image of a student holding a diploma at a high school graduation appeared. The graduate was flanked by a mother on one side and a father on the other. The mother was gleefully smiling, clearly happy for her child. The father’s face possessed a smile but his eyes and jaw were tinged with an expression of worry. The graduate’s face was looking off at something out of the frame. The graduate seemed disinterested in having their picture taken at all.

“First and foremost Cadets, you should understand that almost every child seeks adulthood before they are prepared. Every child wishes to be free from the bondages they perceive as holding them back or holding them down. These bondages could be as simple as who they are allowed to be friends with, who they are allowed to date, the legal age required to drive a car, to consume alcohol, or to be out having fun past a certain time of night.

“Most children in our society grow up inside a restrictive environment, and as they mature toward adulthood, these children begin to perceive these restrictions.

“Secondly, you should understand that almost every parent endeavors to protect their young with increasing restriction and for longer periods of time—for periods of time longer than what may be beneficial to their young. There are numerous influencing factors for this, too many to delve into. However, you should understand, it is the wish of every parent for No Harm to befall their most beloved. To protect one’s offspring is instinctual. It is Preservation of the Species. It is so powerful that in certain circumstances, it will override the instinct of Self Preservation.

“These characteristics of the Young and the Old are conflicting. They are part of a recurring trope, a question that repeats throughout human history. That questions is this: Freedom or Security?

These conflicting characteristics can produce a rebellious nature in the youthful and an overbearance by the parent or authority. Naturally, this can be a difficult time for both parties.”

The General strolled along the stage.

“This conflict not only occurs at the familial level, but it also occurs on a cultural and societal scale. Every coming-of-age generation rebels in some form against a previous generations’ oppression of it. Every Generational Wave has a differing perspective on life, and, it is in these Generational Cleavages where conflicts arise.

“In the spirit of this course, that being to gain understanding in the methodology of Psychological Warfare, we will view Cleavages in a specific way. Cleavages are windows of opportunity. With regard to Generational Waves, they are access points into a Wave’s Vectors and Intensities. They are opportunities, Cadets, that invite malign powers to interfere within the Wave and allow for large-scale subversive activity. To put it simply, if the rebellious nature of the youthful can be harnessed, steered and strengthened, then the youthful can be coerced to rebel or fight against entities or authorities that, in actuality, are only the targets aimed at by Subversives.”

The General stopped and scanned the auditorium. He took a deep breath and spoke loud.

This is how Revolutions are staged… Our own intelligence community is very good at it. Today, some people call these Color Revolutions”

The General clicked the projected remote and strolled a few more steps. An image of a protest appeared on the screen.

“During the 1960’s, in this country, a Generational Wave occurred that was, in part, steered and strengthened by subversive forces. I am not saying that every social movement that occurred during this era was controlled by malign powers. What I am saying is this—SOME MOST CERTAINLY WERE.

“The common person looks back on the 1960s as a period of social turmoil, maybe a time of love or growing understanding, maybe a time of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll laced racial and political strife. Experts in psychological warfare see this era for what it truly was—A failed attempt at revolution.

“Failing as it did, our country was certainly scathed by the occurrence. Certain victories were garnered by subversive powers during that time. Specifically, encroachments into Political, Educational and Entertainment arenas, fields where influence and manipulation of public opinion are most manifest. These encroachments remain in our culture today. They will remain until this country’s populace awakens to their existence and manipulation.

“It is my personal opinion that The Internet may be the silver bullet that finally kills this beast. With the internet’s ever expansive and quickly changing state, I am uncertain if it can ever be completely controlled. Thus, new mechanisms of information distribution will always be prevalent and forthcoming.”

The General walked back to the podium, clicked the remote and faced the auditorium.

“During the 1960s and long, long before, subversive organizations have endeavored to infiltrate areas of public influence. They do this slowly over time and in secret, maneuvering to increase their power, manipulation and influence. They do this through Insertion Points.”

The General turned and looked at the words on the projector screen. Students were scribbling.

Insertion Points are occupations that control Information Distribution. With newspapers, magazines, textbooks, or other publishing house materials, the Writers, Journalists and Editors are the Insertion Points for Controlled Information

“Controlled information could be newspaper articles that are factual. Controlled Information could also be articles with skewed or slanted information. It could also be articles that are complete fabrications, invented out of thin air, just liable and slander.

“The Insertion Points for Television Programming are even more prevalent and obvious. Directors and Producers control everything on nightly news broadcasts. The individuals reading the teleprompters are paid actors. They have trustworthy faces and authoritative voices.

“Cadets, News Programming is completely controlled, and at the moment, it is looked upon as the utmost authority on what is happening in the world. Insertion points for Television do not end with the news, however. Entertainment programming such as sitcoms, movies, cartoons, talkshows, etcetera—all have astounding influence over public opinion. Their Insertion Points are legion.

“The Insertion Points of Social Media are the Administrators and Platform executives, individuals who have the power to censor or amplify information. These occupations control which comments, videos, blogs or topics can trend, be viewed, or who can view them. Anything posted on a large social media platform is subject to control. What you need to understand is this.”

The general clicked the remote.

“All forms of Mass Communication have Insertion Points where information, or Data, can be manipulated. However, Insertion Points are not limited to the general fields of Mass Communication. There are Insertion Points in Education, Religion, Law, Politics, Military, Intelligence and much more.”

The General cleared his throat and scanned. He gave the Cadets time to copy the paragraph.

“What I am about to speak about should not be examined as a strict plan. I want you to examine the following in a loose manner, attempting to understand the calculation and strategy behind this information. It may one day be of great significance to you.”

Every student in the auditorium finished copying the paragraph and sat straight. The General clicked the remote and an image of a man appeared.

“In 1970, a foreign operative who specialized in Psychological Warfare defected. He was an intelligent man from a high-ranking military family. Upon defection, he proffered his knowledge concerning his duties as a propagandist, and what he knew of his former country’s military capability. He also divulged his thorough knowledge in the Art of Subversion.”

The General clicked the remote. Words appeared on the screen.

“There are four periods of what the defector called, Ideological Subversion. These four periods are:

1. Demoralization

2. Destabilization

3. Crisis

and

4. Normalization

“The first period, Demoralization, lasts fifteen to twenty years. It can last longer. It is defined as the slow change of a population’s moral perception over time.

Demoralization is a slow process, where Cultural Values and public opinion is moved away from its original standings and transitioned to more and more radicalized viewpoints. When taken to an extreme, this process will produce a population unable to make sensible conclusions about their world. The population will be unable to discern truths from falsehoods. They will have difficulty discerning Right from Wrong. Demoralization is a process of Brainwashing, and it moves too slow for most to see.

“The reason that Demoralization takes fifteen to twenty years is that this is the amount of time necessary to educate one generation of children to adulthood. Or Cadets, this is the amount of time needed for one Generational Wave to build.

Demoralization can be seen in the commercialization of Religion, the delegitimizing of traditional dogmas, the ridiculing and breaking up of religious sects into further division. It is the Devaluation of Meaning that religion provides.

“Demoralization can be seen in the degradation of Education—its greater and greater acceptance or even celebration of permissive and deviant behaviors. It is the manipulation of curriculums by the withdrawal of hard sciences and mathematics, and their replacement with altered versions of history and social studies laced with new coercive ideologies and new aspects victimhood.

“Over time, this process will induce an ignorance in the student, but it will be perceived as true knowledge. Some students may even view it as righteousness.

“Demoralization can be seen through works of art moving further and further toward the profane and taboo. New works will be celebrated as genius by progressive minds while at the same time Traditionalists will decry the world.

“Demoralization by The Media occurs through the manipulation of data across all consumer outlets. This is only possible by monopolization and/or collusion. The media will ridicule traditional norms and divert attention to more progressive or fashionable viewpoints. They will sow division, targeting any available difference in popular opinion. Inequality, Racial Strife, Worker-Employer Relations, Sexual Orientations; all and more are targets that a demoralizing media can exploit.”

The General scanned the auditorium. The Cadets were all taking notes fast.

“Take this question to mind… A person born rich may be undeserving of the wealth they inherit. This may or may not be true, but does the man who is born poor deserve to be given that wealth? Wealth, they too, have not earned?…”

The General watched the students.

“How about this? Does a worker deserve a wage they were not contracted to? Should an employer be required to pay a wage imposed by a government or a union?”

The General continued watching the Cadets.

“How about this? Are open marriages moral? What about same-sex relationships? What about polygamy? What about polyamory? What about transexualism?… What about Pedophilia?”

The General moved on.

“These are just some target topics that a demoralizing media will introduce and concentrate on. Movies will be made. Songs of oppression will be celebrated. Warriors for social justice will march. Advertising agencies will conform. Banners of ideology will be waved. Protests for The New Cause will be thrust into the public eye, and slogans like, “Weakness is Power” or “Humbleness is Happiness” or “Diversity is Strength” will be righteously chanted.

“The brains of the rational will contort and squirm trying to make sense out of the world. The dumb will go along without question.”

The General clicked the remote.

“The main objective for all of this is to steer the population away from traditional standings of truth and strength, to blind the population of the values that held them unified. The result will be seen in a population’s mob mentalities, the strict divides between whatever divides have been created or widened. Black vs White, Male vs Female, Young vs Old, Gay vs Straight, Criminal vs Law, etcetera. The lines between all of these will be blurred or expanded.

“Remember, Cadets, this is not a short operation. This is a long insidious campaign that moves too slow for most to observe. Only in reflection can most see the process of Demoralization. It grows in power with every small moral retreat, with every tiny shift of Collective Opinion. It is the mental herding of a population in any direction away from any core values that strengthen and unify them.”

The General sighed and lifted his palms.

“Sadly, Demoralization is only possible because of a goodness in people, because of a natural decency and willingness to be inclusive.”

The General dropped his palms.

“After fifteen to twenty years, the process of Destabilization may begin. It can last two to five years and is the direct result of Demoralized Persons entering positions of authority in society. These are positions like city, state and federal political offices as well as their appointees. These are also positions like attorney generals, judges, district attorneys, police commissioners, sheriffs, election officials and school board members.

“Demoralized Persons will also become community organizers, religious leaders, directors of new ideological movements and heads of charities. They will become journalists, media personalities, scriptwriters and advertising executives. They will become professors, but not usually in the fields of science, mathematics, or engineering. They will invent new fields of study, and they will camouflage themselves with distorted scientific theory and technical jargon.

“Demoralized Persons will also enter the general work force. While not leaders of their movements, some will aspire to do their part. They will push ideological change throughout their industries. Companies requiring university degrees for entry level jobs will be more adversely effected. Workplace lawsuits will increase. Productivity will decline. Hostility in the workplace will be common. The instigators of such activity will claim victimhood. Customer Service will exhibit ideological favoritisms. The Demoralized with the power to hire, will hire like-minded into their fold. Companies will experience high levels of insubordination. Some companies will experience mutiny. Some will experience sabotage.

“The Destabilization period will be marked by violent protests and riots. Some will be authentic and genuine demonstrations. Others will be nothing more than assembled mobs, looting under the banner of a cause. Almost all will have subverters hidden within them. They will direct bands of the homeless or drug addicted or freshly released criminals to perform destructive acts. Power lines will be cut. Wild fires will burn. Energy pipelines will be severed. Trains will be derailed. Manufacturing and production plants will be targeted and made inoperable. The crime rate will skyrocket as the media tells the populace how peaceful it is. Supply chains will fail. Starvation will increase. The government will centralize further and seize more power. They will gain new authorities that infringe upon Rights and Civil Liberties. Hyper Surveillance will be installed. The battling of political factions inside the destabilizing country will intensify.”

The General took a breath and scanned the Cadets.

“All of this, Cadets, will lead to a Crisis, the third period of Ideological Subversion. In Crisis, the majority of the population is looking for something to save them. Some One, or Thing, that can make all the chaos and uncertainty go away, something that will put food back into grocery stores, that will re-stabilize energy and economy, that will eradicate the heightened criminal elements, something that will return a sense order and morality to everyday life… Something that gives Hope… The people will be looking for a Savior, and that savior comes in Two Forms.”

The General clicked the remote. The screen changed. The Cadets began writing.

“The first form is a Champion of the People. It is someone or some movement that seeks to take power back from subverted or compromised power holders. Military commanders may show differing allegiances to political factions at this time… This is Civil War, Cadets.”

Every student in the auditorium stopped writing and looked up.

“The second form comes under the guise of Foreign Aid and Peace Keeping. If a population is starving or energy deficient, the introduction of a foreign power that provides food and energy may garner that population’s loyalty. Make no mistake, Cadets. This is Invasion. It will seek and destroy existing military threats, reestablish law and order through force, correct and control economies and install proxy government that is loyal to them.

“I should note here that invasions into territories with well armed populations are exceptionally difficult. It takes troops—boots-on-the-ground—to take and hold land. Don’t ever forget that, whether those troops be the common man or the trained soldier. Usually tactics of Population Disarmament are executed by subversive factions prior to invasion.

“There is also a third scenario: Civil War and Foreign Invasion in procession. This is where an invading force aligns with one or more factions of the civil warring parties.

“On average, Crisis lasts two to six months. It can last much longer. Once the conflict is settled, and order and economy are reestablished, the process of Normalization begins.”

The General stopped and stood in the center of the stage.

“Cadets, it will not be what you remember as Normal.
